The works represented on Celebration are to the wind band world what the major works of Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms are to the orchestral. Their positions as staples of wind band repertoire have been solidified by their frequent appearance on concert programs over the last 50 years. Although the pieces by each composer on this album are definitely modern, none of the compositions are experimental or revolutionary in any significant way, making each a lasting composition for the wind band medium. Performed by the United States Air Force Band,Celebration features tracks like "An Outdoor Overture", "Celebration Overture" and selections from "New England Triptych". Each piece is played brilliantly by a band considered to be one of the most talented bands in the world. Celebration is directed by Lieutenant Colonel Lowell E. Graham and truly displays the dedication, professionalism and talent of the United States Air Force with every note played.
