Excursions is a delightful album recorded by the United States Air Force Band. The album features the work of four very talented, well-known composers. Bruce Boughton, one such composer, wrote the work “Excursions for Trumpet and Band” which explores the diverse technical and expressive capabilities of the trumpet. Other works on the album include “Dance Movements” by Philip Sparke, “Symphony No. 3” by James Barnes and “Fanfare for a New Era” by Jack Stamp. The United States Air Force Band, known around the world for its talented musicians and versatile repertoire, plays each piece beautifully and exactly as it is meant to be played. The entire album plays like a story from beginning to end. Lieutenant Colonel Lowell E. Graham leads the USAF Band on this album. Excursions takes the listener on a ride through the works of some of the greatest composers that ever lived.
