Ev’rytime We Say Goodbye is a tribute to Frank Mantooth (1947-2004), a pianist, composer, arranger, clinician and educator. Mantooth wrote over 60 original compositions and over 70 orchestrations for big band alone. Mantooth was a committed jazz educator, which gave him the ability to write in a way that made even the most elementary musician feel good and sound confident. Frank’s sense of humor was evidenced in almost every piece of work that he did, either in the title or in the content of his works. This album was recorded by The United States Air Force Academy Band Falconaires Jazz Ensemble as a representation of all of the characteristics that made Frank Mantooth a legend. As the piano player for the Falconaires from 1969-1973, Frank Mantooth was an important piece of Academy Band Heritage. Ev’rytime We Say Goodbye features incredible works like “Stapes," “Take Only for Pain,” and “Speakin’ Of Dave."
