John J. Pershing (1860-1948) was an officer in the United States Army and was the only person, while still alive, to rise to the highest rank ever held in the Army – General of the Armies. He was also the founding father of the US Army Band in 1922. A commemoration to this great man and his role with the United States Army Band, Pershing’s Own contains many fantastic songs including "Summon the Heroes", "Close Harmony" and "Dance of the Jesters." Each piece is beautifully performed by the Army Band, a band noted for its immense talent and showmanship, traits put to good use in honoring the great John J. Pershing.
