Great War Themes
From the beginning of the movies, theme music has been an essential part of the cinema experience. In the earliest days of the silent film, music was often little but a lone pit pianist battling to cover the sound of the projector. The resourceful pianist kept albums to hand with pages labeled 'angry,' 'love scene,' 'army approaching,' and other descriptions. The 'talkies' brought integrated music, often put together according to the same principles, but many a routine war film has been saved from instant obscurity by the solid beat of a good march. Great War Themes offers a collection of such themes to great war films, including "The First of the Few" (1942), "The Bridge on the River Kwai" (1957), "Schindler's List" (1993), and the recent TV series "Band of Brothers (2001). These works were composed by famous composers such as Kenneth J. Alford, Paul Anka, John Williams, and Ron Goodwin, and arranged faithfully for this collection. Music Performed By:
