As a Director of the United States Marine Band, Colonel Bourgeois is musical advisor to the White House. Each piece on this album was chosen by Colonel Bourgeois to be included, making the compilation the Director's Choice. Works on the album include "The Pines of Rome", "Overture to Tannhauser", and "Marche Hongroise from La damnation de Faust, Opus 24". On Director's Choice, The United States Marine Band continues the tradition of excellence, which earned it the title "The President's Own".
