This album is the third in a series of recordings honoring the lives and music of individuals who have made significant contributions to jazz. The Legacy of Sammy Nestico honors a man whose compositions and arrangements have been performed by thousands of musicians around the world. Nestico is a prolific and well-known composer and arranger of big band music, most known for his arrangements for the Count Basie orchestra. The United States Army Field Band's Jazz Ambassadors recorded this album in March 2001 at Devers Hall, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. Representing some of the finest musical talent in America, The Jazz Ambassadors are the United States Army's Premier touring jazz orchestra. The Legacy of Sammy Nestico features some of Nestico's greatest works including "A Minor Affair" and "The Queen Bee". Honoring the innumerable musical contributions of Sammy Nestico, this album is both inspiring and captivating.
